BARI – The photo signed by Nicola Abbrescia and winner of the first edition of the Bari photo contest – Peripheral View shows the sky from a new perspective, that is, a building in the Poggiofranco district of Bari. The awards ceremony took place in the Margherita theatre, where the exhibition was also inaugurated which, until 12 May, allows you to admire the 36 shots selected from the 500 entered in the contest by more than 200 professional and amateur photographers. In second place is the image of a woman immortalized in via Udine, in the Santo Spirito district, by Simona Perrini; in the third a shot in via Giuseppe Verdi, Fesca, by Marco Ranieri.

The competition was promoted by Cime and the Municipality of Bari, with the support of the Puglia Region and in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture-Regional Secretariat for Puglia, the University of Bari and the Academy of Fine Arts. Judging the works was a jury chaired by the internationally renowned photographer, already juror and winner of the World press photo award, Manoocer Deghati. The eight awarded photos are all exhibited in the exhibition, in which other artists also participate.

For Vito Cramarossa, director of Cime, the success of participation in the contest «tells how this city and its entire community of reference want to get involved, to contribute with their active commitment to the creation of great cultural initiatives». The municipal councilor for Culture, Ines Pierucci, recalls that «the protagonists of this reflection open to the city are the suburbs, in recent years at the center of a strategic investment by the municipal administration: they, the suburbs, have won, and with them the photographers who gave us their personal representation of our city.”
