LUCCA. Winning and hoping for a Spezia defeat at home against Gallarate. BC Lucca has no other plans available to try to qualify for the playoffs. First place is now secured by Quarrata who, despite only having a two-point advantage in the standings compared to the duo made up of Spezia and Lucca, has the head-to-head clashes in his favor which protect him from any arrival on equal points or in a different ranking. There are three teams involved in the fight for second place, the last one for the playoffs: Spezia, favorite, BC Lucca and Gallarate.
The first consideration is that the Tuscan group of B Interregionale was clearly more competitive than the Lombard-Piedmontese one, the other is that BC Lucca approaches tomorrow’s match at Palatagliate against Borgomanero – tap-off at 6pm – with the awareness of who is obliged to win and it might not even be enough. With 40 minutes left in the play-in, Spezia appears as a great favorite because it is fully in control of its own destiny: if it wins it continues in the playoffs and if it loses it can still advance if Lucca loses and if the defeat against Gallarate is by less than 17 points waste.
The Luccas instead have to win and hope for a defeat by Spezia – eating their hands for the match in the first phase in which the red and whites were ahead by 29 points against the Ligurians in the third quarter and then won by only 2 points. To progress, Gallarate must win by at least 17 points and hope for a defeat by BC Lucca.
Moving on to the pitch, Borgomanero is a team that no longer has anything to ask for in the play-in and is already certain of playing the last match of its season tomorrow. In the first leg, however, the Piedmontese team won 85-71 against a Lucca team that never really managed to get into the match. There are many quality players available to coach Di Cerbo for the College Basketball project.
Above all Francesco Ferrari, a two-meter guard who at 19 years old is averaging 18.4 points.
