Acrobatic thieves in action in the heart of the center to take away very bulky goods. Several meters of copper downpipes for rainwater drainage were dismantled in the middle of the night from two homes private in the area Clai square. The victims only realized the theft the following morning and had no choice but to report it what happened to the police to shed light on the double blow.

“It happened in the night between Wednesday and Thursday” says a woman who has now been forced to reach into her wallet to make up for the disappearance of the precious metal by replacing her descendants. «I closed the shutters at half past eleven and then went to sleep. The next morning I realized that the copper descendants had disappeared and then I learned that I was not the only one who had suffered this type of theft”. The certainty is that in the middle of the night the thieves, who climbed to reach the roofs of the targeted houses, carefully dismantled two meters of copper descenders which were in a position that was not easy to reach. Then, always in via San Vincenzo, in the heart of Piazza Clai, they got to work to remove other rain pipes until they reached a height of eight meters from the ground. Same job and at the same time on another house in Via degli Artieri, a few meters away from the place where the first theft took place. In this case, however, they gave up the acrobatic work. They simply unscrewed another copper descendant from the wall and then dismantled it piece by piece until it reached six meters from the ground.

Strange is the fact that no one heard any suspicious noises. Even stranger is the fact that the thieves, who went for a walk through the alleys of the historic center carrying goods that were bulky to say the least and certainly not invisible, managed to get away without difficulty. The hope is that some private camera in the area may have immortalized their passage. The damage count is significant, with one of the victims of the theft forced to turn to the tinsmith and pay significant sums: «Three hundred euros per piece are needed also because I researched and learned that in this area the replacement of descendants cannot be done with fake copper”. Thefts of this type have affected other private homes in the centre, visibly deprived of the red gold tubes that are tempting for those who trade a metal whose cost has reached staggering figures. The certainty is that the downpipes and drains found in the corners of houses are selling like hot cakes.
