Caltanissetta: conference “Good performance in the management of local authorities”

A conference organized by the Prefecture on the theme of ‘Good performance in the management of local authorities’ was held at the Michele Abbate cultural center in Caltanissetta.

At the meeting, inaugurated by the Prefect Chiara Armenia and moderated by Dr. Francesco Cerisano of the newspaper ItaliaOggi, the Prefect Marco Valentini, Councilor of State, Dr. Salvatore Pilato, President of the control section of the Court of Auditors of Palermo, Dr. Maria Grazia Vagliasindi, former President of the Court of Appeal of Caltanissetta, and Dr. Fabio D’Anna, Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Caltanissetta.

The event, addressed mainly to the mayors of the province, the members of the local administrations, the municipal secretaries and the managers of the public administrations, was conceived as an opportunity for discussion and reflection on the delicate management of the local authority.

During the conference, the constitutional principles of good performance and impartiality were recalled, underlining the importance of the Municipalities as a primary point of reference for citizens, in order to establish a relationship of trust with the Institutions.

Administrative-accounting issues were also addressed, with particular attention to the challenges encountered by Municipalities in administrative management, given the increase in skills without corresponding adjustment of human and financial resources, with the risk of bankruptcy.

Finally, the topic of the criminal liability of Directors and managers was discussed, in light of the various violations against the Public Administration contemplated by the penal code and the recent reforms.

The conference aroused great interest among the participants for the concreteness and topicality of the topics covered, receiving appreciation for its usefulness in offering support to daily administrative action and in strengthening collaboration between institutions and bodies for the benefit of the community.
