In Busto Arsizio a morning with schools to remember the Meina massacre on the 79th anniversary of the Liberation

Great participation this morning in the Sala Tramogge of the Molini Marzoli in Busto Arsizio for a unique event included in the Liberation Day celebrations.

The association Angel’s friends and theAnpiin agreement with the municipal administration of Busto Arsizio and the La Storia sia noi table, with the support of the Coop Members Committee of Busto-Cassano, presented “Tikkun Olam – Mending the world“.

In front of an audience of students from the fourth and fifth classes of high schools in Busto Arsizio, Rossana Ottolenghi (daughter of the only family to survive the Meina massacre) e Maite Billerbeck (great-grandson of the executioner of the Lake Maggiore massacres) told their family story and their meeting eighty years after those tragic days of September 1943. Also speaking were Daniela Danapresident of the Sons of the Shoah association; Anna Longopresident of the Amici di Angioletto e Liberto Losapresident of the Anpi of Busto Arsizio.

The professor Gianni Galli, of the Casa della Resistenza of Verbania, provided the historical framework of the affair and the trials that followed but which did not provide justice to the victims. During the event some sequences of Even, the documentary film on the Lake Maggiore massacres created by the Casa della Resistenza of Fondotoce.

«Only the assumption of responsibility and the stubborn search for justice can lead us to build a peace that does not homogenise victims and executioners but looks towards a future to be built together», was the message of the initiative.
