Viterbo – “Tuscia will have a candidate on the list because it is right that this territory gives its all to the European elections. I am here as a militant and not to replace anyone, we are building an authoritative Italy in foreign policy and now we want a self-sufficient and independent Europe”.

Arianna Meloni arrives in Viterbo and thus speaks to the public, very public, who awaited her at the Terme Dei Papi. This afternoon the meeting with the head of the national political secretariat of Fratelli d’Italia. In the room, next to Meloni, the deputy Mauro Rotelli, Luigi Maria Buzzi of the provincial congress, the group leader of the party in the Lazio region Daniele Sabatini, the group leader in the city council Laura Allegrini. Other members of the provincial congress were also present.
Among them Antonella Sberna, also a city councilor. And Marco De Carolis, Gianluca Grancini. As well as the provincial councilor Luca Giampieri and the municipal councilor Matteo Achilli. There are also many local administrators.

“I don’t like being in the spotlight very much – said Arianna Meloni in her debut at the meeting -. I believe that you can engage in politics even without having a public role and behind the scenes. And we have demonstrated it, also because behind the scenes we are an army of men and women. With today’s meeting you might think that maybe I want to be a great leader. No, I’m not here to replace the prime minister or to be the head of the party. I am here as a leader of the Brothers of Italy and above all as a militant. We are militants, people who have chosen to engage in politics without any personal ambition.”
Then the memory of the first political steps: “We started in 1992 in the difficult neighborhood of Garbatella, in the difficult years of the state massacres. We started slowly and met a great community of men and women. We have built a great journey, with good or bad moments but all carried forward with a lot of determination. Perhaps the most difficult moment we went through was when we saw our history diverge into the PDL. But from there we rolled up our sleeves and founded Fratelli d’Italia from nothing, and in a very short time. A party that had the task of making us rediscover the pride of being Italian, a community of patriots, of good people who don’t look for shortcuts.”

“Italy is calling Europe”. This is the title of the event. The first in Tuscia for the sister of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. But also the first official release entirely managed by Arianna Meloni. Only her name on the event poster.
And there was talk of European elections. “But today with the European elections we are perhaps facing the battle of battles because the Italian model must be the one we cultivate in Europe – stated Meloni -. Just as we are building a productive and authoritative Italy in foreign policy, we want to build a Europe that is self-sufficient and less independent from other states. A Europe capable of moving on the international scene as a single entity”.

“We already know this Europe, it is incapable of giving answers and we don’t like it. This Europe must be changed. We can no longer afford an ideological approach. We imagine the Europe of peoples and nations, aware that its wealth lies in its peoples and origins. A Europe capable of defending its borders ranging from the Baltic to the Mediterranean – she added -. We want a Europe free from the green ideology that would like us to hand over our hands and feet to China. We seek the right balance between environmental sustainability and development.”
With an expected clarification. “I know that this territory will do a great job – she stated – you will have a candidate on the list because it is right that this territory gives its all in the European elections. Let’s go straight to the destination.”
A meeting, the one in Tuscia, which sees Arianna Meloni’s role increasingly under the spotlight. Even if that of the prime minister’s sister, and wife of the minister Francesco Lollobrigida, has always been an important role for the party. Arianna Meloni began her political journey from a young age. And now, after your role as head of the national political secretariat of Fratelli d’Italia and the management of membership and electoral lists, you seem to be starting a phase that sees you personally involved even in public and official contexts.

During the meeting there was also a discussion on the government’s work.
“Now we are in government of the nation – he stated -. We must be aware of the role we have, demonstrate responsibility and that we are always the same. The government is trying hard. I am proud of what has been done in the government for two and a half years. We are reaching the economic growth objectives that we promised during the election campaign: the increase in employment, the growth of income, the purchasing power and savings of families. And with the citizen income reform, a distinction is made between who can work and who cannot. We have started a tax reform, support for families and public health. With the 135 billion allocated to the national health fund, we have made the highest investment ever planned for healthcare”.
To then add: “We have interrupted the season of electoral bribes, we have opened the season of concreteness, foresight and good spending.”

Rally which was held in Viterbo, a symbolic place also of Melonia’s political path. Here in 2004 Giorgia Meloni was elected president of Azione Giovani during the national congress. And in the 2022 political elections in the capital of Tuscia, Fratelli d’Italia was the first party with 40.1% of the votes.
Among the topics touched upon was also that of birth rate. “We must create the conditions together to reverse this demographic decline – said Arianna Meloni -. Having a child cannot be an obstacle to the realization of one’s inclinations.”
And the transition to agriculture, with the tractor protest starting right from Tuscia. “We have also demonstrated our defense of the environment by supporting farmers – he explained -. They were being attacked by the synthetic wine multinationals. Italy was the first country in the world to ban the marketing of synthetic meat, leading the way for other states.”

During the meeting also the memory of Valentina Paterna, regional councilor of FdI and coordinator of the FdI club of Tarquinia, who passed away last March 26th after a long illness. “Allow me to remember a special person who I had the honor of knowing,” he said. Valentina Paterna was an exceptional woman, an exceptional militant and a great friend.”
Arianna Meloni also focused on an anecdote in which Valentina Paterna told her about her illness. “She did it with a strength and courage that I have rarely seen in anyone – Arianna Meloni recalled -. Thank you Vale for being with us. We are honored to have seen you among our ranks of the regional council.”
The words of the regional councilor Daniele Sabatini were also added to the memory for Valentina Paterna, who remembered “her smile, strength and courage even in the face of illness”. Sabatini also focused on the importance of the national political chain and on the investments made by the region for local healthcare.
Intervention in the area also by Laura Allegrini, on the delicate political events of the capital of Tuscia: “We here in Viterbo have a bomb, not one to defuse. Not the one that the English threw on our city, but a bomb that is an administrative problem. A serious issue that Fratelli d’Italia wants to address with determination and clarity. We don’t know what will happen, but we don’t shy away from the challenge. Indeed, we are ready for any electoral challenge that may arise in the near or longer future.”
And speaking of elections, MP Mauro Rotelli invited Massimiliano Grasso, Fratelli d’Italia mayoral candidate for Civitavecchia, to the stage. And he added: “We will have 26 municipalities in the province of Viterbo going to vote. But the electoral college is very vast, starting from Viterbo and arriving in Ladispoli. In reality Civitavecchia is as if it were the sixth province of Tuscia. We Massimiliano will be at your side.”
A meeting that saw Arianna Meloni interface with the public for an hour. No comments were made to journalists at the end of the conference. However, a clarification was made, even if in passing: “I am not running for the European elections.”
Then the prime minister’s sister left for Tarquinia in support of the candidate Alberto Riglietti and the “Agraria Tricolore” list. The appointment in view of the renewal of the Agricultural University.
