Serie B: Cosenza’s away match against Reggiana

COSENZA – Cosenza returns to victory against Reggiana after two months (the last time was in Lecco on 17 February) and breathes a big sigh of relief after risking sinking into the mud of the play outs. Of course, it’s not over yet, but the clear 4-0 win against Reggiana at the Mapei Stadium gives us hope. Above all for the spirit with which the team took to the field, combative and determined. The goals of captain D’Orazio and the eternal Tutino decided the match and then Forte’s brace, which thus redeemed a period that was certainly not idyllic and put into practice the great work of sacrifice always at the service of the team.

First half without history. Cosenza leads the game throughout the half, also thanks to the advantage that came after just 6 minutes thanks to the header by D’Orazio who, stationed at the far post, collects an assist from Tutino, capable of escaping from an opponent on the right and to cross for the full-back. Tutino himself is the extra man up front, together with Marras and Antonucci: a trio who is always dangerous and always ready to exploit Calò’s plays. In the 14th minute another opportunity for Cosenza: Tutino, irrepressible, serves Antonucci vertically who, in the area and with first intention, sends it just wide. Reggiana doesn’t seem to react. In the 21st minute Calò’s corner and Meroni’s header which grazes the post to Satalino’s right. In the 43rd minute they doubled their lead: an illuminating pass from Calò for Tutino who swerves with his heel on the right and hits the post squarely with a left-footed shot, yet another post of the season. As the action continued in Cosenza, they doubled the score: Mazzocchi served Tutino who, with a billiard shot, through a mass of legs, slipped the opponent’s goal just past the post.

The second half had characteristics that perfectly overlap with those of the first half: above all it was Cosenza who played the game and appeared more often in the attacking midfield. Reggiana came close to scoring with Gondo in the 29th minute, but his shot was sensed by Micai, who made a nice diving save. Then Viali changes something, the authors of the two goals are out, and Forte is in, among others, and he doesn’t even imagine it could be a splendid evening for him. And in fact, in the last ten minutes, the attacker attacked Reggiana twice, first collecting a free kick from Calò and then launching a shot which ended up in the net thanks to the deflection of a Granata defender.

Poker served for Cosenza, therefore, who gives the first victory to coach Viali and looks to the future with great confidence. Salvation is increasingly within reach.
