The man who was hit on Friday evening on Ravegnana in Faenza, near Via Borgo San Rocco, died a few steps from home. The dramatic accident occurred around 7pm. The man, an 88 year old, was riding his bicycle when, for reasons still under investigation, he was hit by a Fiat Punto driven by a boy who was traveling from Russi towards the town of Faenza. The elderly man was thrown disastrously to the ground, hitting his head on the asphalt and losing consciousness.
The 118 emergency services rushed to the scene with two ambulances and a medical car, joined by colleagues with the helicopter, but there was nothing that could be done for the victim: the man died during a desperate attempt to take him to hospital . The boy behind the wheel of the Punto, in shock, was taken to the hospital in Faenza, where he underwent the necessary toxicological and alcohol tests.
The State Police, the Highway Police and the Carabinieri were on site and closed the stretch of road affected by the accident, diverting traffic. A second accident occurred on Friday afternoon in Faenza, with a child transported by helicopter to hospital.
