As the deadline for the presentation of the lists for the municipal elections of 8-9 June approaches, 11 May, the Termoli centre-left finds itself faced with a worrying political void. Less than ten days before the deadline, the center-left has not yet managed to find a candidate for mayor who can summarize, internal tensions are reaching a critical point.
While the Termolese center-left struggles to find a united leadership, its political opponents have already developed their own strategies and candidates for the upcoming municipal elections: Nico Balice he was designated as a candidate for the center-right coalition and Andrea Montesanto for the Building Democracy movement.
The secretary of the regional Democratic Party Ovid Good timetogether with his counterpart from the 5 Star Movement Antonio Federico, demonstrate the inability of the two political forces to reach an agreement on the candidate for mayor. In this leadership vacuum he only emerges Roberto Rutamanaged in record time to put forward a valid political proposal in Campobasso, while in Termoli the representation of the centre-left is being put at risk by raising questions about the political future of the regional secretaries.
In response to this situation, Gigino D’Angelo, a leading exponent of the Molise left, openly accused the PD and the M5S of being responsible for the ongoing disaster. D’Angelo declared that the lack of unity and vision within the center-left is seriously compromising Termole’s electoral prospects, giving victory to the center-right.
The delay in finding a mayoral candidate represents only the tip of the iceberg of a broader crisis within the Termoli left. It is clear that the PD and the M5S must deal with their internal divisions and focus on overcoming differences for the good of the community.
May 11th is fast approaching and the time to find a solution is now short. the center-left of Termoli finds itself faced with a crucial choice: either find an immediate agreement and present a united front in the elections, or risk disappearing like snow in the sun.
