WALK TO DISCOVER THE FANTINE FOREST – (students from Vinchiaturo, San Giuliano del Sannio and Mirabello Sannitico visiting the CEA)
The forest becomes an open-air school: we are in Campomarino where 50 middle school students carried out an educational visit to the Fantine forest and got to know the Environmental Education Centre. To welcome the students and teachers Di Renzo Ludovica, Michele Cartoccio, Marone Dario, Pasqualone Lorella, Di Carlo Danila, Longavita Ennia, some volunteers from Ambiente Basso Molise. The main purpose of these educational visits is to show students and visitors what the countless services that trees provide us mean, through their natural physiological processes and their importance in fighting global warming. For the young students it was an opportunity to discover more closely the important benefits of the forest on air quality and to reflect on the topic of sustainability and possible actions in the face of the urgent needs of climate change. The woods perform protective, recreational and production functions: the Fantine wood has its own intrinsic value given by the richness of living organisms that compose it and the thousands of species that find a home or refuge in it which make this territory “unique” absolute in the national field and definitely a valuable territory rich in biodiversity. After the visit to the heart of the forest and the numerous traces of its inhabitants, the students were engaged in the workshops that the ABM volunteers prepared for them. Workshops to discover extraordinary plants, flying mammals, reptiles and the extraordinary presence of the wolf. An infinite story that only Bosco Fantine can offer.
