A trail of controversy followed the speech vice-president of the Campania Region, Fulvio Bonavitacola, in Casal Velino during a meeting on the issue of coastal erosion. What was supposed to be a moment of discussion and awareness turned into a political controversy.

During his speech, Bonavitacola labeled the Meloni government as fascist. His words aroused groans and dissent, culminating in a harsh statement from the local Fratelli d’Italia club, with the unequivocal title: “Terrible speaker. Bad policy.”
The document from Prime Minister Meloni’s party expresses disappointment with the vice president’s approach, defining his intervention as an example of “PD’s way of doing politics“, characterized by childish insults to political opponents rather than constructive and respectful debate. Furthermore, he criticized the local PD administrators for not having been able to handle the situation appropriately and for having ignored the words of a citizen disappointed by the vice president’s intervention.
