there is no place in the world like home”

From the Puglia to Abu Dhabi and 7 years after returning home. The story of Vito Tricarico, a 29 year old boy, is one of those who are part of the “exceptions that confirm the rule”. There are many who leave, fewer who return. But there is someone. He left his home, Puglia, when he was 19 because he didn’t “feel at ease” there. The desire to escape was strong. He then began to work for several airlines which allowed him to travel the world: «China, Japan, Colombia, the United States, Mexico and beyond», he says.

Back to the origins

Of those seven years abroad Vito spent two in the United Kingdom and the other five in the United Arab Emirates. He had financial security and also a permanent job in Abu Dhabi. But what was missing were the motivations. In 2021 he therefore said enough. He abandoned his permanent contract and returned to his land. At home waiting for him was his father’s company, a cherry orchard set up in 2004 which now occupies 20 hectares of land, writes Repubblica.

It is from here that Vito started again, because «I understood that There’s no place in the world like home». Now he works together with his father, picking and selling cherries. But not only. Because together with the more “traditional” job, the 29-year-old created the Tricarico’s cherries brand, also opening an e-commerce, developing a delivery network throughout the territory, also making the most of social networks to promote the business and make himself known .

The owner remains the father “but he leaves me a lot of free rein”, says Vito. «Reading your compliments – he writes in a post on Facebook – your advice and feeling your affection makes me feel proud of the choice I made! And this is not an arrival but only a starting point.”
