Historical manifestations and promotional events: 1.7 million allocated

One million and 700 thousand euros for the promotion of historical events and tourist and cultural events in Molise. This is the amount invested by the regional council with the approval of two resolutions proposed by councilor Salvatore Micone.
Half a million euros is the allocation for the “Molise Roots” project, which will be managed by the Molise Cultura Foundation and will support the holding of 19 traditional events and festivals identified taking into account, among other criteria, the high and recognized historical and anthropological value and of the at least fifty-year historicity of the appointment.
The events are: Gl cierv of Castelnuovo al Volturno (Rocchetta al Volturno), the Fucilieri of San Giuliano del Sannio, the Carresi of San Martino in Pensilis, Portocannone and Ururi, the Pagliara Maje Maje of Fossalto, the Palio of San Nicola Guglionesi, the Palio delle Quercigliole of Ripalimosani, the Wheat Festival of Jelsi, the Sheaf Parade of Pescolanciano, the Bread Festival of Gildone, the Cart Parade of San Pardo of Larino, the Bagpipe Festival of Scapoli, the Faglia di Oratino, the Maitunate of Gambatesa, the Palio of the Contrade of Montelongo, the Grape Festival of Riccia, the Mysteries of Campobasso and the ‘Ndocciata of Agnone.
Councilor Micone is focusing on the Molise Roots project to enhance the heritage of identity rites and ceremonies of Molise. Local communities will be the real protagonists. «In addition to continuing to be custodians of the treasures of their territories, of their origins, of their traditions, they will be promoters and ambassadors of the Molise identity and they will do so in concert, also through a coordinated promotional activity, which will make the program rich, unique, exclusive and attractive”, underlined Micone.
In the same meeting on 16 April, the executive also gave the green light to the notice which provides for an “intervention to support companies and bodies promoting tourism, sports, culture, social and religion”.
The recipients of the contribution will be cultural and tourism promotion companies and bodies that operate in the regional territory and whose activities are related to the valorisation of the peculiarities of Molise’s cultural heritage. These are the reference sectors, also in an integrated form: artistic and traditions (entertainment, music, folklore and customs events, cinema), typical craftsmanship (markets, fairs, exhibitions, workshops) and valorisation of cultural, landscape, environmental and natural resources and local food and wine.
The total budget is equal to 1.2 million. Eight thousand euros is the minimum grantable, 30 thousand the maximum. The support will be commensurate with the activities carried out (which must be completed by 30 April 2025). If the activities require the payment of an economic burden by the users, the support materializes at a maximum of 55%. For free activities, support of a maximum of 70% is expected.
«Cultural and tourism promotion companies and bodies – concluded the councilor – are increasingly considered an important catalyst for innovation, a fruitful production sector and a fundamental factor for triggering processes with a strong social impact as well as a driving force for tourist attractiveness for the territory in which they operate”.
