LECCE – Seven years ago over 15 thousand Apulian children and young people had sang Tito Schipathanks to“Tito – The little singer”an interactive musical show produced by the Orpheo Association for the Dawn of Tomorrow which, in 32 performances in the theaters of Salento and Puglia, contributed to making the very young aware of the story of the most famous Lecce native in the world. From 22 April to 3 May the written musical by brothers who are musicians and authors from Salento Francesco and Matteo Spedicato dedicated to the history ofL’Lecce nightingale returns to the Politeama Greco Theater in Lecce for 7 matinees and a total of 14 performances intended for children and young people from over 50 schools in Puglia. He goes on stage with a new setup for the fifth edition of teaching and musical theater program Bewitched by Musiccreated by Shipped themselves and from Andrea Rizzo,to promote knowledge of the grandiose Italian bel canto tradition: since its launch in 2017 it has already involved and brought to the theater over 80 thousand children and young people from 73 schools in Puglia, standing as the largest in the South in terms of number of participants, also thanks to the ministerial network (MIUR) Bewitched by Music which brings together schools, libraries and participating institutions.

It aims to bring children and young people of school age closer to beautiful Italian singing, leading them to learn their stories and learn how to sing the most famous arias. This happens through original content designed and created for younger people, audio-video materials captivating, high-impact theatrical productions that involve the direct involvement of the spectators and, more generally, through a simple but at the same time rigorous and attentive to detail language that have made the masterpieces of the history of international music unique. This happened with “The Elixir of Love” in 2018, with “The Barber of Seville” in 2019 and with “The Traviata” in 2020, as well as, in fact, with the debut project, in 2017, “Tito – The little singer”, freely inspired by the story of Tito Schipa, which Orpheo Space APS wanted to restart since last September given the great demand in schools.

Prominent figure in the panorama of world opera, Hollywood film star, composer of jazz and Argentine tangos, but also philanthropist spasmodically devoted to the creation of a singing academy for young voices, as well as founder of the Lecce Music Conservatory, Tito Schipa is discovered by children and teenagers at school starting from reading the book”Tito – The little singer” (again signed by the Spedicato brothers) in which the character is told with a fresh and immediate narration. The in-depth study then develops with the use of a wide series of contents made available online (video tutorials) and concludes with participation in the final show in the theater.

The show “Tito – The little singer” tells in a dynamic and captivating way, with imagination and panache, the life and career of Shipa, revealing curious details from his childhood or anecdotes from his professional career. It is a’original work, with texts And music written by the masters Matteo And Francesco Spedicato,with arrangements And orchestrations of the Maestro Eliseo Castrignanò, musical director of Bewitched by Music. The audience of children and teenagers is invited to take part during the show show and called to sing, together with the protagonists on stage, some of the most famous arias made famous in the world by the great tenor from Lecce.

The show has two protagonists. Tito is played by Luca Spadaro, performer of Musical theatre with numerous collaborations in the largest Italian musical productions. Emilyas from the beginning, lives thanks to the interpretation of Claudia Presicciyoung singer and actress who grew up in Orpheus housetalented today Musical theater performer.

On stage too Luigi Giungatowho also directs, and Lorenzo Semeraro.Narrator is Mino Profico.Alongside the professionals on stage there will also be four young talents from the Orpheo Space Academy: Cristiana Ampolo, Vittoria Rizzo, Lorenzo Spedicato And Alice Timo. The animated scenography they are signed by visual artistsPiero Schirinzi And Andrea Raholight designer Giovanni Oliva. Production is instead directed by Andrea Rizzo.
