The commander of Gallese’s traffic police dies, struck down by an illness, while on duty. That of Franco Mangiucca, 62 years old, is yet another sudden death. According to what has been reconstructed, yesterday just before 8 am the policeman arrived with the car in front of the Dante Alighieri media, in Piazzale Don Milani.

Brigade commander dies on duty

In fact, every morning he used to block traffic to allow pupils and parents to cross the road at the pedestrian crossing to get to school. A ritual which, however, was not repeated yesterday. So, after waiting a few minutes for the arrival of Mangiucca, lieutenant of the local police force, a passerby approached the service car parked a few meters away and noticed the 62-year-old slumped in the driver’s seat.

The tragedy

After calling him without getting any answers, the passerby became alarmed and alerted the emergency services. The 118 paramedics arrived on site and tried to resuscitate the traffic policeman, but unfortunately there was nothing they could do. Franco Mangiucca would have died due to an illness, perhaps a heart attack. The body was not subjected to an autopsy and has already been returned to his family.
The commander was originally from Fabrica in Rome, where he lived together with his wife Loredana, a nursery school teacher. He also leaves behind two children, Jacopo and Arianna, and a brother.
