Lecce, defense to be confirmed and away numbers to be improved

Not just the comforting three clean sheets in four matches under management Luca Gotti for Lecce. The Venetian coach recorded the defensive phase of a team that suffered too much at the crucial moment of the season. Having kept a clean sheet against Empoli allowed Gotti to surpass his predecessor Roberto D’Aversa, sacked after only two clean sheets in 28 matches (Salernitana and Genoa at home).

Gotti’s next step is to try to correct the away numbers. In the last 10 away games, Lecce scored only 4 goals (last the own goals by Gyomber and Cerofolini against Salernitana and Frosinone, added to Krstovic’s deflected shot in Genoa after Banda in Empoli). Furthermore, there has never been more than one goal in an away match. The Giallorossi have not reached 11 consecutive away games in the competition, scoring at most one goal since December 2000 (11 in that case).

On the other hand, Lecce is the team that has scored the most goals in percentage terms last 15 minutes of the game of the second half in this Serie A (41% – 11/27); on the contrary, Sassuolo conceded 18 in this part of the match, less than Salernitana (22) in the current tournament.
