PESCARA – Plants, flowers, exhibitions of orchids, bonsai and succulent plants, cultivation workshops, courses and advice from experts to create magnificent green and flowery gardens and balconies. Four days will be dedicated to nature lovers and horticultural enthusiasts, scheduled from 25 to 28 April 2024 at the Marina di Pescara tourist port which will host the 46th edition of the Florviva Flower Show.

The event, the longest running in the sector in Abruzzo, is promoted by Arfa, the regional association of Abruzzo horticultural industry, and Assoflora, the association of Abruzzo horticultural producers, in collaboration with the Chieti Pescara Chamber of Commerce.

There will be around 150 exhibitors who will color the Becci pavilion and the external square of the tourist port with every type of plant and flower, from the most common to the rarest, arriving in Pescara from all over Italy, but also from abroad. In fact, there will also be companies from Germany, France and the Netherlands exhibiting their products. Furthermore, this year too there will be no shortage of exhibitions dedicated to some particularly popular species.

The first will be promoted for the third year in a row in collaboration with the Abruzzo section of the Triveneta Amatori Orchidee Association, represented in Abruzzo by Anna De Mediowhich will display numerous varieties of orchids, some of which are very rare, cultivated by members from all over Italy.

Then there will be the exhibition of succulent plants, created thanks to the presence of the Italian Association of Succulent Plant Amateurs, Abruzzo, Molise and Marche section, which will allow visitors to admire these plants and discover their peculiarities thanks to the guidance of the section secretary, Domenico Rocchiand friends of the association.

Bonsai lovers, however, will be able to delight in the many varieties showcased thanks to the amateur exhibition dedicated to the fascinating miniature trees curated by Raffaello Pellicciotta of Pescara and Carmine Iezzi of Montesilvano.

Among the novelties of the 2024 edition there will be the “Giardini in Mostra” initiative, an installation in the central square of the Marina di Pescara created with the participation of 10 Abruzzo companies which will create the largest garden ever created in 46 editions of the Mostra del Florviva flower.

During the four days in Pescara, space will then be dedicated to local students thanks to the collaboration between the Mostra del Fiore Florviva and the European University of Design. The Ued, in fact, will exhibit the four projects developed as part of the national competition “Balconies for Rome” and selected for the Rome Green and Landscape Festival.

In detail, it will be possible to view the prototypes: “The sound of dew” by Matteo Ramundi And Melissa Sideri; “Ecozen” by Giammarco Petrillo And Priscilla D’Antonio; “Frame” by Roberta Del Roscio, Flavia Di Petrucci And Alessia Di Marco; “Green Freedom” by Esther Venditti And Lara Di Biase.

“We inaugurate this new season at the Marina di Pescara tourist port with one of the most anticipated events of the year: the Florviva Flower Show”, declares the president of the Chieti Pescara Chamber of Commerce, Gennaro Strever.

“A round of applause to the organizers who are preparing a record edition, with over 150 exhibitors from all over Italy. The Chieti Pescara Chamber of Commerce has always believed in this event which combines the themes of sustainability and the environment, highlighting one of the most flourishing sectors of the regional economy. From this year, the organizers will also be able to count on the creativity of the students of some institutes, demonstrating the institution’s attention to the training of new skills to be used in the job market”.

During the event, in addition to the wide choice of flower, ornamental, vegetable and fruit plants, there will also be space for free workshops and courses on topics ranging from pruning to fertilization, including the care of the most delicate plants.

“The number of editions achieved and the quality of the exhibition, which increases every year,” he highlights Guido Caravaggio, president of Assoflora, “demonstrates that companies in this sector, in terms of professionalism, have a lot to say. In Abruzzo there are around 250 companies that generate a turnover of around 80 million euros per year, employing a number of employees that varies between 3,000 and 5,000 people, depending on the seasons. It is therefore a small sector compared to others, but the fact that our association has been active for decades, as has the fair, denotes the ability of operators to want to collaborate to grow together. And this can only make us proud.”

“We are ready to return with an event that has become, over the course of almost 50 years, a point of reference in Abruzzo for all operators in the sector, but also for lovers of plants and flowers -, he comments Remo Matricardipresident of Arfa – After the difficult years of Covid, the event has finally returned to pre-pandemic numbers since last year, with around 80 thousand visitors in the 2023 edition. Numbers that we are certain will increase in this edition in which we will have provision of an extra day and the public holiday of April 25th, when the ribbon cutting is scheduled”.

The event, with free entry, will be open to the public from 10.00am to 8.00pm. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday 25 April at 11.30 am in the presence of the organizers and representatives of local institutions.
