52-year-old Nigerian victim of a romance scam acquitted

TERNI – Ended up on trial for a sort of sentimental scam, he was acquitted by judge Marco Di Tullio.

A man had ended up under accusation 52 year old Nigerian who has lived in Terni for some time.

They were finished on his account 6 thousand and 450 euros paid by a Peruvian woman and the investigators’ lens was focused on that money.

According to the accusation supported by the prosecutor’s office, the two transfers were paid thanks to the alleged deception of the man who presented himself as a widower in need of help to unblock some packages stopped in China to obtain an alleged anti-drug certification.

The lawyer Francesco Mattiangeli, who defends the Nigerian, in the courtroom he managed to demonstrate that his client had lent his current account to a friend who had asked him for a favor to receive money from the victim, the offended party in the trial.

That he would have had long-distance telephone relations with the Nigerian’s friend, who was never identified.

The trial ended with the acquittal of the 52-year-old Nigerian and the satisfaction of the lawyer who has always maintained that behind that money there was some sort of sentimental scam.
