Teramo, Bonolis stadium and controversy: Iachini speaks

The former president of Teramo and manager of the Bonolis stadium, Franco Iachini, intervenes again on the controversy linked to the management of the structure

The management is based on an agreement that began in 2006 and which sparked several controversies, both from Iachini and from the city, from the fans and from the Municipality.
The criticisms focus not only on the sporting structure, but also on the commercial one, highlighting the need for a revision of the agreement to better respond to the needs of the community and the club.

Iachini has expressed several times his desire to resolve the open issues, showing openness towards a possible transfer of management, but according to him, there was no will on the part of the municipal administration to close the issue.

Below is a passage from Iachini’s note released at the press conference:

“Soleia is the holder of an agreement by virtue of which it will be able to manage the Stadium until April 2041, and if it has to withdraw, it believes and demands fair compensation, otherwise we will go ahead with the arbitration as, in fact, we have done.

We are convinced of winning the arbitration with the PEF under discussion, and bringing the current agreement to 31/12/2080, despite having formulated during the course of the award, at the request and indication of the Municipal Administration, as many as two other PEFs of which, the last one, provided for a duration until 12/31/2060, and a fee for the city team of 60,000 euros per season.

Should we lose the arbitration, we will be forced to return the agreement, subject to compensation of the sums established by law (sums which are more than double the request made by us to the municipal administration for the consensual resolution). And with all the operational consequences that entails.”
