For the first time in its history the Calabria organize the Regions Tournament dedicated to the regional five-a-side football teams National Amateur League with all four categories Under 19, U17, U15 and female. Once again, the synergy with the 5-a-side Football Division is fundamental, confirming that the LND works as a system to promote all disciplines. The Regional Committee chaired by Saverio Mirarchidynamic and proactive, after only five editions returns to organize the iconic LND Tournament. In 2016 Calabria hosted the event dedicated to eleven-a-side football. “We are proud that the LND has given us the mandate to host the Regions 5-a-side football tournament for the first time in our history and we are full of responsibility to ensure that all those who will be hosted can enjoy not only an important sporting moment but also have the opportunity to admire our cultural, landscape, food and wine beauties. The choice to involve the entire regional territory and to carry out collateral events such as the visit to the Museum of Reggio Calabria to admire the Bronzes, the Esport tournament reserved for disabled children and the agreement with Italiacamp to give the opportunity of an educational and educational for the teams that will win the title, it will certainly provide a tourist showcase and is proof that major sporting events help develop real economies. I thank the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria for the availability and enthusiasm it has shown for the organization of the event, all the Municipalities that have made the sports facilities available, the local ASDs that have collaborated with commitment and finally, but no less important, the entire CR Calabria structure which is working with great dedication to ensure that everything can be done in the best possible way. Calabria is ready to play an important tournament and I am sure that expectations will not be disappointed. Good luck to all participants and above all have fun”. These are the words of President Mirarchi on the sidelines of the conference, which are echoed by the declarations of Giuseppe Della Torre: “Calabrian futsal is constantly growing and I am very proud of this: during the rallies I saw commitment, dedication and a lot of concentration, the coaches enjoy the utmost trust and I am sure that we will be able to have great satisfaction. Thanks to all the companies that supported us in these preparatory months and to the municipal administrations that will host the event”.

The Regions Tournament represents a great event. It is an objective that we have been looking at for some time and which we have achieved also thanks to the regional president of the FIGC-LND, Saverio Mirarchi. This achievement is the snapshot of the concrete collaboration that exists between the institutions and the Federation in Calabria”. That’s what he said Giuseppe Falcomatàmayor of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, adding: “Even through this type of initiative, the image of a territory can be seriously promoted. The Regions Tournament – he added – it was an opportunity to accelerate the conclusion of the redevelopment works of some historic sports facilities in our city, as well as an opportunity to reflect on how much a community can and should grow around sport. Our investment – concluded Falcomatà – it is related to sport understood as a right of citizenship. In fact, through sport, a territory grows and new generations of people grow who will receive a useful education and discipline throughout their lives, beyond what they will be able to learn from books”.

The Metropolitan Councilor Delegate for Sport, Giovanni Latellarelaunched the importance of the union that links sport and tourism: “As an administration we focus on major national events as an attractor capable of growing the local economy. Thanks to the Regions Tournament, hundreds of athletes will rotate through the city, with trainers, managers and family members in tow, in a period between the months of April and May. In a certain sense, the offer is deseasonalised and our hospitality, restaurant and commercial activities are breathed into life.. The final – concluded Latella – will be broadcast from PalaCalafiore on Sky channels, effectively relaunching the image of a reality ready to welcome and host numerous visitors. It is a beautiful spot for Reggio and for sport and, for this reason, I can only thank the president Saverio Mirarchi for wanting to bring here one of the most anticipated sporting events in the national sporting panorama”.

The interventions of Maurizio Condipodero (CONI Calabria) e Walter Malacrino (Sport and Health Calabria) highlighted the importance of sport as social inclusion, as a driving force for the economy and as evidence that the synergy between political and sporting institutions is the added value for economic and social growth.
