There are over 51 thousand students who, at a national level, are enrolled in the current school year in the ‘Health and social assistance services’ course of study, from the 1st to the 5th year of the new professional paths .
To discuss this data, at the ‘Cascina Oremo’ educational center in Biella, on 12-13 and 14 April, teachers and managers of the professional education course met with representatives of the University, local authorities and the Third sector to discuss innovative proposals useful for designing together a school curriculum that makes the preparation of students more effective and opens them up to care professions, contributing to the development of the territory and social well-being.
Puglia could not be missing from the round tables and the study seminar, organized by the National Renaissans Network, with 37 educational institutions providing training in our Region, of which 6 are present in the province of Foggia (only at the Einaudi Institute, today, on course is attended by more than 300 students).
Two fundamental questions: “There is a lack of job opportunities for graduates in the sector. Why? Are they not necessary or is it just a problem of constraints given by legal rules? What can be done to improve the students’ preparation for the course?”
Various proposals were intercepted within the working groups including, for example, “the definition of a proposal for the development of the school path common to all Italian institutes, on which to graft the declinations that respond to the needs of the territory, the attitudes and expectations of students”as stated by the president of the National Network, Patrizia Sciarma.
But the answer to reflect on together is certainly this: “Yes, they are necessary! The students who follow this course are useful and will always be more so, because they are prepared and have the desire and ability to take care of the person and the community”.
