In Catania a conference on orphans of feminicides

CATANIA – On Saturday 20 April, starting from 9.30, in the conference room of the Palazzo della Regione Siciliana in Catania, the event entitled: will be held “Our children, collective responsibility for orphans of femicide”. The initiative is promoted by the regional deputy of the Democratic Party, Ersilia Saverino, with the patronage of the presidency of the Sicilian regional assembly.

After the greetings of the regional deputy, the institutional intervention of the prefect of Catania, Maria Carmela Librizzi. Then on the program are the talks by Graziella Priulla, former professor of sociology of communication at the University of Catania, and Carmen Bosco, psychotherapist, responsible for the “Respiro” project for Thamaia.

Then Monica Malafoglia, Save The Children’s legal expert for the “Respiro” project; Gabriella Messina, regional secretary of CGIL Sicily; Giuseppe Vecchio, Guarantor authority for children and adolescents; Marisa Scavo, magistrate at the Catania district attorney’s office.

The support proposal

The intervention of Nunzia Albano, regional councilor for Family, social policies and work and Senator Valeria Valente is expected. “It will be an important moment for take stock of the situation regarding policies in favor of those children, girls or boys who have been deprived of a family, as well as the fundamental presence of their mother” explains Ersilia Saverino.

Saverino is a signatory to the proposal it envisages the provision of contributions “for support of orphans of domestic crimes”, approved in the last budget law. Regional deputies, administrators and associations will also take part in the event.
