New walks to discover the Monumental Cemetery of Forlì

On Sunday 21 April 2024, with meeting and departure at 9.45 am from the entrance in via Ravegnana 235, Forlì, Alvaro Lucchi and Gabriele Zelli will lead two walks with distinct itineraries inside the ancient cemetery to present the “Told Guide to the Monumental Cemetery of Forlì. History, Art, Culture”.

The events are promoted by the Pro Forlì Historic-Artistic Committee and the Romagna Culture Center “E’ Racoz”.
After the success of a week ago, on the occasion of the new appointment, tombs of particular historical and artistic interest such as those of Marco Palmezzano, Aurelio Saffi and the families: Guarini, Pinchetti, Bonavita, Reggiani Romagnoli, Fratti Bondi will be brought to the attention of the participants Ravaioli, Albicini, Orsi Mangelli, Verzocchi, Santarelli, Mazzoni, Cantoni. Particular attention will be paid to the Pantheon where, among others, Piero Maroncelli, Antonio Fratti, Fulceri Paulucci di Calboli, Angelo Masini are remembered.
The “Told Guide to the Monumental Cemetery of Forlì – History, Art, Culture”, which was written by the historian Alvaro Lucchi with a preface by Gabriele Zelli, is composed of three volumes for a total of 815 pages and an appendix containing the maps for guide the visitor. In the publication the author illustrates the history of the cemetery complex, from its origins to today. He also surveyed and described 205 funerary monuments and tombs which have an undoubted historical-artistic value and focused on the people who rest there and on the sculptors, architects and stonemasons who embellished the tombs and funerary shrines.
On the occasion of the walk on Sunday 21 April it will be possible, for those who wish, to purchase the volumes at the discounted price of 100 euros.
Free and open participation. No need to book. The initiative will take place even in case of rain because it will be held indoors.
