training course for anti-violence workers begins

Knowledge and skills to combat violence against women

Promoted by the Astarte Association in collaboration with the Higher Education School of the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro, the course includes the training of anti-violence operators as provided for by the agreement of the Unified Conference of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of 14 September 2022.

According to article 3 of the aforementioned agreement, the operators, including volunteers, who work in an anti-violence center must be adequately trained following a gender approach: on the topic of male violence; on its structural causes and consequences; on risk assessment; on the specific needs of women exposed to multiple vulnerabilities, on the principles of the Istanbul Convention; on the effectiveness of networking, also in terms of economic, working and housing autonomy.

The training course, intended for graduates and undergraduates in law, social work, psychology and sociology, provides specific training that allows them to acquire the knowledge and skills to be able to operate in the contexts of preventing and combating violence against women.

DURATION: The course includes 120 hours of training of which 60 of theoretical lessons which will take place in the classrooms of the Monumental Complex of San Giovanni in Catanzaro, with the participation of teachers from the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro, the multidisciplinary team of Astarte and various professional figures in the jurisprudential, healthcare, economic and institutional fields and, subsequently, 60 hours of coaching at the CAV SOS Astarte Donna in Via Paolo Orsi 1, Catanzaro.

The theoretical lessons will take place with a weekly meeting of 6 hours to be divided between morning and afternoon, starting on 7 May 2024.
