DHL Express Italy inaugurated the new sorting and distribution center in Rho. The surgery costs 17 million eurosis part of the plan investments of 360 million in the four-year period 2023-2026 to support Italian export-oriented companies, for a total of over 700 million in 8 years.
«Businesses in the Lombardy area – he explained Nazzarena Franco, CEO of DHL Express Italy – are characterized by a strong propensity for internationalization, with a share that borders on 90% in SMEs and 100% in large ones. Rho represents a strategic infrastructure for small and medium-sized companies in the area between Milan and Varese, among the most dynamic and export-oriented in the country. It is from here that businesses have access to our global network of 220 destinations.”

DHL Express offices and warehouses have increased operational efficiency, thanks to a sorter (the product sorting system) capable of process 3000 pieces per hour, and increased safety, while simultaneously reducing environmental pollution factors. «An example of this – said Franco – is the creation of 88 charging stations for first and last mile collections and deliveries, which from Rho serve the north of Milan and the area between the provinces of Milan and Varese between the Ticino river, the Olona river and Saronno, one of the areas with the highest concentration of SMEs in Italy and Europe”.

For a better quality of the workplacethe spaces were redesigned and the three floors of offices were renovated which evolved into diversified environments, equipped with modular workstations, meeting rooms, spaces intended for sharing and creativitywith lounge areas to be reserved for moments of rest.

«Thanks to its strategic position and the adoption of eco-sustainable solutions – he stated Raffaele Cattaneoundersecretary of the Lombardy Region – the Rho center has made it possible to redevelop a real estate asset, reducing CO2 emissions to zero.”

«Our territory once again confirms itself as an attractive hub, especially in the Greater Milan area – he then declared Alessandro Spadapresident of Assolombarda – and records significant economic performances, with a GDP growth of 5.5% compared to pre-covid, much more than Italy (+3.5%) and the European benchmarks”.

«We are the first international express courier – added the CEO of DHL Express Italy – to give customers the opportunity to use sustainable aviation fuel to reduce environmental impact and we offer them the service Go Green Plus which helps reduce Scope 3 emissions, i.e. indirect greenhouse gas emissions that occur in a company’s value chain, including transportation and downstream distribution.”

In this regard, during the inauguration of the center, an agreement was signed agreement for the Go Green Plus service between DHL and Graziano Fumarolegeneral manager of Ancorotti SPA, company that operates in the sector of cosmetic production for third parties. The agreement will allow the company to decrease carbon emissions associated with their shipments through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), a biofuel produced from renewable sources such as vegetable oils, animal fats, waste products and agricultural crops. The SAF is specifically designed to be used as substitute for traditional jet fuel and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil fuels.
