From 4 to 11 June 2024, in Viterbo, in the spaces of the Teatro dell’Unione, a week to deepen techniques, languages and visions in contemporary and research dance of the Alphabet company: Method
Nanou starts a conversation through the Alphabet project: a place and time for choreographic research in which to investigate one’s own artistic language and determine its effectiveness through encounters. From 4 to 11 June 2024, in Viterbo, in the spaces of the Teatro dell’Unione, a week to explore techniques, languages and visions in the company’s contemporary and research dance.
Alphabet: Method is a training and in-depth dance course for newly graduated or proven professional male and female dancers and performers, conceived and conducted by the Nanou group.
With Alphabet: Method we choose to open the transmission process by sharing the choreographic method, revealing the compositional process and dismantling it layer by layer, reaching the profound reason for a choice and highlighting the relationship between the signs that constantly intervene in the scenic composition.
To participate in the selection it is necessary to send a CV and a video link highlighting your dance skills by Monday 20 May 2024 to the email address [email protected] indicating “Alphabet application: Method” in the subject of the email.
The selections are at the sole discretion of the nanou group. The selections will be communicated by May 22, 2024.
Male and female dancers with proven professionalism and a minimum age of 20 years are admitted. The commitment is intensive, for 6 hours a day. Alphabet is free.
On Tuesday 11 June, at the end of the journey, a public opening will be held to share the work carried out, in dialogue with the territory.
Availability is required for the entire journey. Applications with partial availability will not be considered.
Up to 4 scholarships are made available to cover accommodation during the workshop period, covering the nights from 3 to 11 June inclusive.
Alphabet is a project to find and generate new communities through the construction of new spaces, physical and thought. It is a popular action that we like to define as conversation, a piece of an imaginary puzzle proposed as a first approach for the construction of a cultural fabric that highlights dance art as a connector of knowledge and interactions.
“An example that I often cite is the enchantment of observing the stars. I’m not a physicist, I can’t decipher the exact reason why the sky is so composed and so moving, yet I read it for its wonder, for its exactness. So I want to read the choreography, which although mysterious becomes evident for its reasons which reside in a severe device, capable of generating spaces”.
Alphabet: Method is a project by Nanou Associazione Culturale created with the support of ATCL and the Municipality of Viterbo.
