Fusari: “Five truly unpleasant years”

They have been “five really unpleasant years. I’m happy that’s my last piece of advice in here.” Roberta Fusari bids farewell to the city council which has seen her as a protagonist in various roles over the last 15 years. “I wanted to make a speech centered on this resolution” instead “I will make the last speech of this council of mine”.

“I’ve seen things – he says quoting Blade Runner – that you humans can’t even imagine in here” but “it’s not the ships burning on the bastions of Orion. I have seen threatening letters with bullets going around the benches of this majority. I saw private chats and recordings posted on national television. I have seen the Municipality of Ferrara condemned at least three times for discrimination. I saw unimaginable things.”

“I hope – he continues – that these things will be forgotten as soon as possible, forever, like tears in the rain because it is the only possible solution for the good of our city”.

The first ten years were instead “of important work” where “together, the majority and the opposition” built “the urban planning tools that we are still using now”. “Ten tiring years” but in which it was “pleasant to work”.

It hasn’t been “that way for the last five.” “It’s my personal opinion – she adds – and I don’t want to offend anyone but it was truly demeaning to see how the institutions were treated”. Years in which there was a lack of “debate” and also “collaboration to try to improve for the citizens what the council brought to this room”.

Having felt implicated, the deputy mayor Nicola Lodi responded. “There was a lack of institutional collaboration because you, together with your colleagues, concentrated your activity on reporting the undersigned 11 times, of which 8 times he was acquitted or dismissed”. Lodi explains that “this is not an attack on the prosecutor’s office, which I thank, but on the instrumental use you made because you wanted to overthrow the political enemy, but you didn’t succeed.”

“You – he concludes – have made five years of absurd, shameful use of the judiciary and I have been acquitted”. In reality, serious trials are still pending against the deputy mayor, such as the one for undue inducement in the Cidas case, and at least two appeals against acquittals in first instance are expected. Appeals requested, not by city councilors or political opponents, but by the judiciary.

“She – Anna Ferraresi speaks – should be ashamed”.
