New headquarters for the municipal Volunteer Environmental Inspectors of Mazara del Vallo

Since yesterday, the municipal voluntary environmental inspectors have had their own operational headquarters in a room on the ground floor of the Corridoni monumental complex in via Delle Sette Chiese, adjacent to the Santo Vassallo Gallery.

The opening of the office, desired by the municipal environmental department, was carried out above all to allow citizens the opportunity of a physical place in the city center where they can report environmental violations relating to the correct disposal of waste, regulations and ordinances for environmental protection.

At the opening of the headquarters, in addition to a representation of the 18 volunteer municipal environmental inspectors in service, the following were present representing the administration: the councilors Emmola and Casale, the official Tatiana Perzia, the representative of the Aro Office Maurizio Villani. Present for the PM’s command were Chief Inspector Filippo Passanante and Chief Inspector Lorenzo Vanella.

– The figure of Municipal Volunteer Environmental Inspector, established on the proposal of the IV Council Commission with resolution of the Municipal Council n. 120 of 30 November 2020 carries out public utility tasks and services in the municipal territory for the prevention, supervision, correct disposal, management and collection of waste, in order to contribute to the defense of the soil, landscape and environment in the municipal territory in synergy with the Municipal Police, the Civil Protection and all the designated offices.

The performance of the service is of an unpaid voluntary nature and does not give rise to any employment relationship and no professional compensation is foreseen for the same, except for any contributions granted by the Region or other bodies or any sums given as reimbursement of expenses paid by the Municipality. Only the Municipal Police Command, which coordinates these figures in synergy with the Ecology and Environment Service, will be able to issue sanctions, following the assessment reports drawn up by the environmental inspectors.

The headquarters of the municipal volunteer inspectors will be operational in the next few weeks after the provision of a telephone line and internet network and will be open three days a week. Opening days and times will be communicated later.
