GROSSETO – The beautiful victory in the regional championship of the Mascalzoni del Canale, the Maremma-Livorno franchise where the Under 16s of the Grosseto Rugby Club also play, Michele Esposito, Leonardo D’Ambrosio, Nathan Duchi, Thomas Chechi, Andrea Falaschi, arrives two days early , Raffaele Tenneriello, Emilian Stoica, Enzo Di Lenola and Diego Vena. The last victory against the Titans 46-12 was decisive despite a squad with many reserves, as were the subsequent missteps of the immediate pursuers.
An exhilarating season ended in the best possible way, with the Mascalzoni unrivaled and undefeated, who often entertained and put on a show by winning numerous matches with wide margins, showing ever greater harmony and technical mastery. Many goals were scored and nine were scored by the Grosseto players, namely three by D’Ambrosio and Duchi and one each by Chechi, Esposito and Falaschi.
Three coaches followed the group: Stefano “Nino” Caldart, Massimiliano Volonterio and head coach Agostino Bencivenga, the latter the most present and who took the boys to the various joint training sessions that took place in Piombino, San Vincenzo and Cecina. “The boys had many positive experiences – he said with satisfaction – but the best was playing with the English peers of the same age from Matlock Rugby Club, losing narrowly, by a try. Victory instead against Lyons Amaranto from Livorno, a very important match as Lyons won the Under 16 elite championship, which we didn’t participate in thinking that the boys weren’t ready enough.”
