Three Red Cross nurses left on a mission to the Lampedusa hotspot

It started today second mission of the La Spezia Red Cross in Lampedusa. They left this morning from Pisa airport three Volunteer Nurses of the La Spezia CRI with destination the island’s hotspot, where they will be engaged for a week. The three Red Cross nurses will join the team of the Italian Red Cross, which has taken over the management of the hotspot since 1 June 2023, engaged every day in the socio-health and psychological assistance of the migrants arriving on the island, as well as in the Restoring Family Links activity, to help people who have landed who need to get in touch with their family members.

“Our commitment to helping the most vulnerable continues, not only in our territory but also throughout Italy in the most delicate situations – comments the president of the La Spezia Red Cross Luigi De Angelis – After the first mission at the beginning of March, today we wish good luck to our three Volunteer Nurses who left for Lampedusa this morning. Our team will join the team of operators who for months have been guaranteeing a humane and initial welcome for migrant people arriving on Italian territory.”
