For him the season al Parma Under 15 it ended early due to the fracture of the tibia which will heal in a couple of months, but Alessio Bennardoyoung defender from Palermo born in 2009 he is undoubtedly one of the protagonists of the sporting year of the ducal team coached by Leonardo Ventura.

If the ducals go to play in the play-offs for the category championship, at the moment the yellow-blue baby are fifth in group A with one matchday to go before the end of the regular season, it is also thanks to him. A season as a protagonist with a goal for the central defender in his first experience away from home.

Family tradition

From left to right, Alessio Bennardo, his father Rosario and his little brother Federico

Alessio Bennardo he is a so-called son of art. His father, Rosary also a central defender but who also suited up as a defensive winger, he worked his way through Palermo’s youth team (during the period of Ignazio Arcoleo’s Picciotti team, ed.) and then went on to have a professional career throughout Italy in Serie B and C with a parenthesis also in the Intertoto, the old tournament that qualified for the UEFA Cup. He too played as a central defender, among others, in Battipagliese, Nocerina, Brescia, but also Catania, L’Aquila, Taranto, Avellino.

The very young Alessio already has a powerful physique: he is 1.81 meters tall at 15 years old. Among his qualities, his reactivity stands out and he is, as is easy to imagine given his height, good at aerial play. Furthermore, he is tactically tidy and technically has good qualities for his age. Which clearly will have to be developed. It is inspired by Fabio Cannavaro who clearly, and not only in Parma, is an institution in the central defensive role. Alessio’s first steps were in Ciccio Galeoto’s football school, then he joined Palermo.

The father, “He’s a footballer at heart but football is option B”

Father Rosario spoke to SportWebSicilia: “Alessio has decided to go to Parma with a future perspective. His goal is to become a professional footballer. Clearly I say that this is an important choice but it must not be an obsession. He is already a footballer in mind, his qualities will develop: he is still young but he is a professional at heart. He managed the distance with his family well and managed to find the right compromise. Then in Parma he found an ideal environment to play football. But I repeat: football must be a passion and not an obsession. He studies at the sports scientific institute and this must be his thought. In all of this, I have another young footballer who is hot in the family: Federico who is 12 and naturally works as a defender.”.
