Surprise in Abruzzo, the snow returns: here’s where

Huge surprise in Abruzzo on this April 18th. The tail end of winter brought snow to several areas of the region. That’s where.

After a winter that was certainly stingy when it came to snow, in the last few hours many areas of the region have found themselves covered in snow. Temperatures dropped dramatically and this allowed flakes to fall in abundance in many places.

A sort of completely winter panorama in a period in which it is certainly not easy to see. We’ll see if it was simply something short-lived or even in the next few hours we will continue with cold weather different from what we have had in recent days.

The whitewashed areas

But what are the whitewashed areas? Snow fell all over the Gran Sasso and also the Maiella. An unprecedented situation if we think that we are on April 18th, but for a few days now temperatures have returned below average and this has allowed many mountainous areas to have to deal with a climate picture that has never really been taken into consideration.

The coldest temperatures in Abruzzo were recorded at Piani Pezza where it reached -11 degrees. For the rest, however, temperatures below zero and snow that whitened our region for several hours. There is a possibility of a similar situation in the next few days, but the bad weather seems to be about to leave the country and for this reason new snowfalls are not guaranteed.

The weather in Abruzzo

Bad weather seems to have arrived in Abruzzo. Today was a day characterized by rain, but in the next few hours we will see a brief respite. Tomorrow, Friday 19 April, a different situation than today is expected. Even if we are talking about something temporary given that from Saturday the rain is expected to return to the region again. The conditional is a must since we cannot rule out a sudden change in this direction.
