Among others, Alfa (Sunday 21st at the Mandela) and Nobraino (Friday 19th at the Viper) arrive to liven up the Florentine weekend. The whole weekend turns Florence into a city for children

While the weather continues to act up, Florence celebrates the summer with music, laughter and markets. From the concert by Alessandro Quarta, violin star acclaimed by CNN as a “musical genius”, who proposes a musical journey between rock, pop and jazz for the “Primavera Fiesolana”, to the Fiera di Primavera which celebrates its 21st anniversary on Sunday in Campo di Marte birthday.

Among others, Alfa (Sunday 21st at the Mandela) and Nobraino (Friday 19th at the Viper) arrive to liven up the Florentine weekend; Vanessa Incontrada (for the whole weekend at the Verdi) and Cristina Vaccaro, Saturday 20th at the Laboratorio Puccini with “Brutta. Story of a body like many others.” Celebration and festival time for the whole family. With “Sprouts” children are protagonists in hundreds of widespread events dedicated to nature for the Florence of children, while digital enthusiasts are involved in the “Bright Festival”. Here are our proposals.

Concerts

Alfa at the Mandela Forum in Florence, Sunday 21st
Alfa, stage name of the Genoese singer-songwriter Andrea De Filippi, arrives on Sunday 21st at the Mandela Forum in Florence with his first tour in the arenas which takes its title from the new album – “Non So Chi Ha Creato Il Mondo Ma So Che Era Innamorato Tour ” – which also includes “Vai!”, the Sanremo song already certified gold. Nobraino, “Stage Animals”
Nobraino return live at the Viper Club in Florence, Friday 19th at 9.30 pm, for the new tour dedicated to the album “Animali da Palcoscenico”. The band, which also presents the single “Fermentazione”; will involve the audience as an integral part of the show. www.viperclub.eu

In Fiesole the violin star Alessandro Quarta between rock, pop and jazz
The violin star Alessandro Quarta presents the “No Limits” project together with the pianist Giuseppe Magagnino on Friday 19th at the Teatro di Fiesole (9pm), as part of the “Primavera Fiesolana”. Acclaimed by CNN “Musical Genius”, awarded at Montecitorio as “Best Italian Excellence in the World” for music, Alessandro Quarta plays a rare Alessandro Gagliano from 1723. Theater

“Pagliacci All’Uscita”: Leoncavallo and Pirandello at the Puccini in Florence
A declaration of independence between Verismo and bourgeois theater on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th (9pm) at the Puccini Theater in Florence with two very different texts: “Pagliacci” and “All’usa”, respectively by Leoncavallo and Pirandello. A show by and with Roberto Latini. On stage Elena Bucci, Ilaria Drago, Savino Paparella, Marcello Sambati. Tickets: single numbered seat €20 www.teatropuccini.it

“Ugly, story in a body like many others”
“Ugly. Story of a body like many others”: this is the title of Giulia Blasi’s monologue brought to the stage by Cristiana Vaccaro, Saturday 20th at the Laboratorio Puccini in Florence (9.30 pm), directed by Francesco Zecca. A journey of great intensity between markedly comic moments and biting reflections on the meaning of being in the world and on self-acceptance. Single seat 13 euros www.teatropuccini.it

Vanessa Incontrata and the misunderstandings of 40-year-olds at the Verdi in Florence
Vanessa Incontrada at the Verdi in Florence – from Friday 19th (8.45pm) to Sunday 21st (4.45pm) – protagonist of “I’m in a meeting… Can I call you back?”, a comedy of errors by Gabriele Pignotta whose title features a phrase that has become a catchphrase among 40-year-olds. An ironic portrait of people grown enough to be able to live chasing success and career but not so adult as to be able to stop laughing and making fun of themselves. Also on stage together with Vanessa Incontrada are Fabio Avaro, Siddhartha Prestinari and Nick Nicolosi. Tickets from €23/35 www.teatroverdifirenze.it

Exhibitions

The Palazzina Indiano Arte is inaugurated at the Cascine
It opens on Saturday 20th (5pm) in the Parco delle Cascine PIA – Palazzina Indiano Arte, a creative space in relation to the territory that offers exhibitions, experiences in nature, listening, performances, practices and opportunities for discussion between artists, intellectuals, scholars, botanists and citizens. The program includes the presentation of Piccola Officina Entomologica, a permanent exhibition curated by Tommaso Lisa dedicated to the observation and study of insects, and that of “Philia | Small atlas of the gesture of friendship”, exhibition by Adriana Pecoraro. www.virgiliosieni.it

“Temporal Memories”: exploration of home at Rifugio Digitale
Rifugio Digitale hosts the “Memoire Temporelle” exhibition by photographer Kalpesh Lathigra until Sunday 21st in the spaces of via della Fornace in Florence. Third stage of the exhibition cycle dedicated to contemporary photography “Homecoming”, conceived by Irene Alison and curated by Irene Alison and Paolo Cagnacci, the exhibition explores the concept of home, in the precarious balance between global interconnections and the need to re-find one’s own place in the world.

Kiefer: Fallen Angels at Palazzo Strozzi
At Palazzo Strozzi until 21 July the exhibition “Anselm Kiefer. Fallen Angels”, a journey through historical works and new productions, including “Engelssturz” (Fall of the Angel), the new great work created in dialogue with the Renaissance courtyard. The 7 meter high painting which depicts the famous passage from the Apocalypse on the fight between the archangel Michael and the rebel angels, a metaphor for the struggle between Good and Evil, is the starting point of the exhibition. Fairs and festivals

Germogli, Florence for children with hundreds of nature events Sprouts: this is the theme of the 11th edition of “Florence for children”; the family festival dedicated to the themes of the Earth, nature and relationships between living beings which from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st offers hundreds of free events spread throughout the city. The objective is to promote a generative commitment towards the future and the environment, according to a civic and interconnected perspective, which sees children as true “shoots” of our world. Official opening on Friday at 5.30pm at the Specola museum with zoologists Rita Cervo and Federico Cappa (visits from 5pm to 7.30pm, reservations required). Bracelets are distributed to all festival participants, which allow free access for children and a companion to Palazzo Vecchio, Museo Novecento, Museo Santa Maria Novella, Museo Bardini, where natural activities are planned by Mus. AND. Open doors with many activities also at the Botanical Garden, at the Istituto degli Innocenti and at the Oblate Library and at the Mad – Murate Art District. Furthermore, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Piazza Vittorio Gui center dedicates itineraries, stories and performance activities to Giacomo Puccini. Homage to Puccini also on Sunday (5.30 pm) in Piazza Signoria, in front of the arengario of Palazzo Vecchio, for a grand musical finale. www.firenzebambini.it

The «Bright Festival» returns to Florence
The “Bright Festival” returns to Florence from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st between the Stazione Leopolda and The Social Hub, an international festival of digital creativity with a packed program of educational activities, exhibitions and performances created together with institutions, universities, companies, international artists and creative studios. In particular, The Social Hub hosts the “Bright Educational” section: over 40 hours of meetings and training sessions, 12 conferences, talks and orientation meetings and 4 intensive professionalizing workshops with 24 speakers, teachers, experts and certified trainers who will analyze the various facets of the digital universe (to book online). Among the most anticipated guests is Filippo Lubrano, one of the most influential Italian artificial intelligence experts, who will give a talk on anthropology and artificial intelligence (Sunday, 11am) and present the «Meta Poetry» project created by his collective. At the Leopolda, which hosts the “Bright Art” section, also the new installation of KineticShow, which directs and designs the lights of the great television and sports shows, including Sanremo 2024. www.brightfestival.com

Record and comics fair
The Record and Comics Fair returns by popular demand, at Villa Costanza (The Florence Gate, Scandicci) from Friday to Sunday, 9am/8pm. The event organized by the Comics and Surroundings Cultural Association (which is held in Piazza dei Ciompi every 4th weekend of the month) brings vinyl records and CDs, comics of all kinds, video games, manga, Japanese anime and Pokemon. There will also be stalls selling vintage clothing and objects.

Spring fair in Campo di Marte
The Spring Fair celebrates 21 years, on Sunday 21st around the Franchi stadium (9am/7pm) with a particularly rich edition of the Campo di Marte market organized by Fiva Confcommercio Florence-Arezzo. On over 300 stalls there are products of clothing, costume jewellery, footwear, leather goods, household and gift items, cosmetics and perfumes, children’s toys and books, plants and flowers. And a rich gastronomic offer for lunch or a snack. From 3.50 pm, at the Confcommercio stand in viale Paoli, near Bar Marisa, free architecture workshop for children aged 6 to 12.
