Aps Sicilia Promotion with Montalbano srl organize Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April at the Foro Boario in Piazza Dompè the Sicilian festival “A’ Vucciria Sicilia street food” in collaboration with the Sicilia in Europa association of Fossano, the Cinzia Miraglio Agency of Crema and with the patronage of the city of Fossano.

Montalbano srl, in order to propose a cultural, tourist and commercial exchange between the people of the north and those of Sicily, organizes Sicilian folkloristic events and festivals in the squares of the main cities of Northern and Central Italy. They are events that also promote the territory and local trade, favor the presence of many visitors to the city from all over the region, considering the important and widespread advertising campaign planned for each event.

The history of Sicily is very ancient, noble and the typical food and artisan products are the perfect fusion of the influences of the different cultures that have come and gone on the island. “They feast as if they would die tomorrow, and instead they build as if they would never die.” It is a way of saying that, way back in the 5th century BC, was also borrowed by the Greeks who came to Syracuse to meet the ancient inhabitants of Sicily.

In short, talking about gastronomy in Sicily means discussing the Sicilian DNA itself.

Vucciria is the most famous and best known of Palermo’s markets, the beating heart of the city’s commercial activities. Today it has transformed into a street food paradise. This paradise of aromas and flavors will stop in Fossano al Foro Boario.

The name of this market (A’ Vucciria) derives from the word Bucceria, taken from the French boucherie, which means butcher’s shop. The market was in fact initially intended for the slaughterhouse (and one arose in the Angevin era) and for the sale of meat. Subsequently it became a market for the sale of fish, fruit and vegetables. In ancient times it was called “la Bucciria grande” to distinguish it from the smaller markets. “Vuccirìa” in Sicilian means “Confusion”. Today, the confusion of overlapping voices and shouts from the sellers (the abbanniati) is one of the elements that most characterizes this Palermo market.

In addition to street food with a very rich typical Sicilian menu, the guest of honor was the actor Tony Sperandeo, always present at the party for autographs and selfies.

A great party for everyone!

We invite everyone to participate in this extraordinary event which celebrates Sicilian culture and gastronomy and is an opportunity to also visit the splendid city of Fossano, which will welcome visitors with its unique charm and historical beauties – say the organizers -. We look forward to seeing many of you for an unforgettable experience of flavors and traditions!”

Stand opening hours: 10am-midnight, free entry.
