The Review Court has granted house arrest to Cosimo Leone, the radiologist at the Mazara del Vallo hospital arrested on charges of having helped Matteo Messina Denaro to speed up diagnostic tests.
According to investigators, in 2020, after the boss’s discovery of the tumor, Leone would have been at the boss’s disposal during his hospitalization at Abele Ajello and of having provided the reserved mobile phone purchased for the mafia boss by the abettor Andrea Bonafede.
The Review judges also reclassified the original charge from mafia association to aggravated aiding and abetting.
The radiology technician was arrested last March 27 by ROS men together with his brother-in-law the architect Massimo Gentile, who in turn would have lent his identity to the boss, and Leonardo Gulotta who would have given his telephone number to the mafia boss for the communications he should have received regarding the purchase of a car. Both, Gentile and Gulotta, are still detained.
