MESSINA – Antonio wants to “collaborate” with the investigators Barbera, at the center of the investigation by the Guardia di Finanza into alleged scams linked to building bonuses and in particular to the 110% superbonus. The doctor from Messina arrested last March 26 he wants to be heard by the judges and his lawyer, the lawyer Carlo Blackbird, took note of his wishes and announced a request to the judge for preliminary investigations.
The “political prisoner”
The defender had already attempted a possible clarification of his client’s position during the interrogation but the professional, after declaring himself “political prisoner” off the record, he chose to avail himself of the right not to respond. For him, the official response from the Review Court arrived just yesterday, saying no to the request for release. Barbera therefore remains in prison at the moment, but has decided to return face to face with the judge and present his version of events.
The Review leaves everyone under arrest or nearly so
The College of Liberties rejected the appeals of all the suspects, with the exception of Roberto Pisa, the accountant cousin of the doctor who, according to the investigators, would have facilitated the relative in the procedures on the Revenue Agency portals and other obligations related to the process for obtaining credits for subsidized work. Work was never carried out in all the cases discovered by the Financial Police, who interviewed dozens of the doctor’s clients who only formally held the documents. The professional, registered with the Order of Rome, is no longer under house arrest but only temporarily suspended from practicing his profession. Talking to a third person in conversations intercepted by financiersafter the first signs of the investigation, he had expressed all his fear for the consequences of the investigations, saying that in his cousin’s request for collaboration he had “glimpsed a job opportunity”.
The kidnapping
At the same time as the six arrests for the Barbera family unit, one in prison and 5 under house arrest, the maxi seizure of up to 37 million euros. The assets of the suspects, including some, ended up under lock and key cars and other luxury goodsand the credits in the tax drawers of the doctor’s clients who said they were unaware of the attempted fraud but had believed Barbera’s reassurances on the possibility of obtaining the benefits and only then being able to start the work, relying on his “consultancy”.
What will the doctor-“credit mobilizer” say?
Until the day after his arrest, Barbera claimed his role as a pro bono “credit sender” of others, even after learning of the first interrogations by the Finance Police. So much so that he has created, at least according to him, an association of “victims of building bonus malpractices”. A position reconfirmed in the “hard line” feared during the interrogations. A thesis that did not convince the investigators also because a good part of the credits thus obtained were marketed and ended up in the Barbera companies, which had already monetized a large sum. There is therefore a wait for this comparison requested by himself with the judges, in which the subjects of the investigation will also take part, Rosa Raffa and Joseph Adornedcoordinated by the chief prosecutor Antonio D’Amato.
