Viva Vittoria, thousands of blankets in Piazza del Duomo to say no to violence against women

PISTOIA – Viva Vittoria, the shared relational work, also arrives in Pistoia: on 16 March 2025, thousands of knitted blankets will cover Piazza del Duomo to say no to violence against women.

The blankets, created with 50×50 cm squares made by volunteers and anyone who wants to say no to violence against women, will be the subject of a fundraiser: the entire proceeds will be donated to the Aiuto Donna anti-violence center for the project “The suitcase of possibilities”, to support, in particular, projects aimed at helping women victims of violence to achieve economic and social autonomy, training and qualifications to look for a job.

Viva Vittoria, with its power of positive contamination, aggregates the vital energies necessary to spread a message of awareness and remind women that they are the creators of their own lives.

The event was born from the collaboration of two associations in the Pistoia area Anteas Pistoia OdV and C&TL Caript Aps with the voluntary association Viva Vittoria of Brescia, creator and promoter of the project born in 2015 and which has landed in over 40 squares in Italy and abroad , including Brescia, Cuneo, Florence, Rome, and Milan. The Spazio Viva Vittoria Pistoia will act both as a showcase for the project and as a laboratory open to all those who wish to contribute, depending on their availability and competence, to the realization of the event.

It is precisely in this space that the volunteers will collect and sew the squares, four at a time with a red thread, so as to create the thousands of blankets needed to cover Piazza del Duomo. Here anyone will find support to create their own knitted square and the necessary yarns resulting from donations from companies and individuals.

The organizers ask those who wish to participate in the project to create their own 50×50 cm knitted or crocheted square, an expression of the no to violence against women, signing it with their name.

Starting from this space and in a short time, an important and dense network of relationships will be created which will involve working groups, associations and entities spread throughout the Pistoia area and beyond.
