Leopolda at Patrimonio Pisa, roar of controversy

Friday 19 April 2024 – 07:30

From associations and political forces comes, almost in unison, a chorus of disapproval for the transfer of Leopolda to Patrimonio Pisa Srlthe company entirely owned by the administration which aims to manage the municipality’s real estate assets.

After Ciccio Auletta’s cry of alarm, also from Democratic party controversy arose. “A few weeks after the vote in the City Council on the change to the Pisa Heritage Statute, we learn that in the next few days the associations that have virtuously made it exist for 20 years as a civil, social and cultural space open to all will be evicted from Leopolda – he commented the secretary of Pisa City and municipal councilor Andrea Ferrante – it is strange that, with so many poorly used assets, the Municipality wants to start by shutting down a positive and lively experience. We ask the Council to stop and start again from the dialogue with the associations“.

“The many associations that have lived and made the spaces of the former Leopolda station live for years must abandon them – he announced Legambiente – the Leopolda associations, not being able to satisfy the request for annual rent of 120 thousand euros, were invited to abandon the spaces and, with them, the positive common experience of the city. If the shareable objective, declared by the mayor Michele Conti, is to make these spaces live, the administrative measure goes in the opposite direction“.

At the same time, the grassroots union Cub Pisa he focused on the fate of the Leopolda workers. “In recent days we have sent an open letter to the city councilors to ask for a discussion on the fact that some municipal offices such as those of Culture and Tourism they could soon be delegitimized by the entrusting of tasks and functions to the new company – they wrote – furthermore, in this whole discussion we forget to talk about the workers who have been working at Leopolda for years with regular permanent contracts. Three people without whom countless activities, maintenance, cleaning and management of the premises would not have been possible. We ask the mayor to account for these three workers: say publicly if and when they will be absorbed into the Patrimonio Pisa company with the same salary”.
