There are those who are satisfied, those who resign themselves and there are also those who hope not to have to cancel contracts already signed or about to be signed. Characters in search of a stage, these have become the expected protagonists of the summer program after the municipal administration suddenly but not too suddenly announced the unavailability of the Annunzio monument theatre. «Critical issues emerged in the static suitability assessment, urgent work is needed which we will do» declared the mayor Carlo Masci. The search for an alternative seemed closed with the indication of the Flacco anti-stadium, a football field which however revealed the need for maintenance and redevelopment interventions. There is less and less time to decide and the emergency situation is faced with a different spirit by professionals, depending on whether we are talking about public administrators, artistic directors, artists or managers.
THE MANAGER
Paolo Basile, manager of the show on behalf of Best Eventi and Elite Agency, is at the window waiting for news. «But – he specifies – I won’t be able to wait long: the artists want to know the dates and places of their performances well in advance. On behalf of Best Eventi I am in charge of taking care of Massimo Ranieri and Cristiano De Andrè while for Elite Agency the prominent name is that of Fabrizio Moro. I know that work is being done in the Municipality and as soon as the framework has been outlined we will be the ones to provide news on the shows.”
The councilor for culture Maria Rita Carota, supported by the manager Enrica Di Paolo, confirmed in a note the administration’s maximum commitment to the search for alternative spaces. Marina di Pescara tourist port including the Zoo music fst area, Massimo theater and Flaiano auditorium are the most likely options for hosting large events such as Pescara Jazz and Funambolika or even concerts assuming that the artists agree to perform indoors in the height of summer.
The final evening of the Flaiano Awards will take place in Piazza Salotto. Other solutions could be identified in the area outside the D’Annunzio, generally used for the Florian children’s theatre, or even the Naiads area. «Better the certain than the uncertain» is the philosophy of Raffaele De Ritis, founder and organizer of Funambolika, a program in which the “Gran gala du cirque” stands out: the solution within the walls of the Massimo seems to him all in all the most congenial. «We will lose the magic of the show under the stars but we will have the certainty of counting on a structure that will allow our artists to rehearse the shows without stress – explains De Ritis -. There are no problems with the stage box, the stalls and gallery have an adequate capacity as well as a sufficient slope to ensure good visibility also and above all for children, who make up an important part of our audience.” Extreme evils, extreme remedies seems to be saying De Ritis, who will have a show on the program in addition to the Grand Gala proposed in at least two repeats.
JAZZ FESTIVAL
Angelo Valori, artistic director of EMP and Pescara Jazz, says he is confident. «The jazz festival will take place at the Marina di Pescara. Some evenings will be reserved for young talents, while for the big stage we are thinking about some hypotheses. We have a range of effective solutions to evaluate and finding a cheaper one would make us all happier” comments Valori, who closes with a promise: “We will have the answers on Monday”.
