Posing as a police sergeanthe would contact an elderly woman from Matera being delivered more than 10 thousand euros to prevent his son from being arrested. A 45 year old of Campania origins was arrested by the police City of Stones and the man’s partner, the same age as him, was reported on the loose.

The facts date back to January 3 of this year. The old woman received the phone call from the fake marshal who asked for the sum of 11 thousand euros.

The woman reported that she did not have that amount but only 300 euros. The fake marshal thus convinced the old woman to hand him over too gold jewelry for a value of approximately 10 thousand euros. Shortly afterwards the woman’s son, unaware of what had happened, returned home and the old woman thus discovered that she had have been the victim of a scam.

Immediate report to the police who started the investigation by identifying the scammers’ car. The 45-year-old was then recognized by the old woman.

The man’s partner was reported for providing the car used to commit the crime. The investigating judge of the Matera court thus ordered the arrests of the 45-year-old, who had several precedents and ended up in prison in Naples.
