The Sofinter industrial group of Gallarate becomes German

The industrial group Sofinter spa of Gallaratespecialized in the construction of systems and components for the production of steam for industrial use and for the production of electricity, was purchased by German fund Mutaresan international investor of private equity with interests in automotive and mobility, engineering and technology, goods and services, retail and food.

The operation concluded on Last April 22nd it provided for a capital increase subscribed by a company of the Mutares group as well as a recovery agreement in execution of a debt restructuring plan. Therefore the German fund is the new majority shareholder of Sofinter spa, while the Indian group Gammonwho in 2008 had entered the capital of the Gallarate company with a 50% share, became one of the minority shareholders with a share of 10%.

Mutares which has its headquarters in Munich and offices in Europe and China, achieved in 2023 revenues For 4.7 billion euros and has a market capitalization of 892 million euros. This investor’s approach consists of looking for companies in difficult situations to grow their potential value with innovative and tailor-made solutions often in synergy with other subsidiaries.

The potential Sofinter valueespecially in a phase of energy transition, is very high, considering that important brands such as Macchiworld leader in the design and construction of industrial boilers and recovery boilers for cogeneration cycles, e AC Boilers spa formerly Ansaldo Caldaie.
Looking in perspective, for Sofinter which already has a substantial portfolio, this step could open up new market scenarios. By becoming part of an industrial fund structured in this way, with the necessary adjustments and probable industrial synergies with other companies controlled by the German fund, the Gallarate group could count on a relaunch in a very short time.
