«Regarding the cancellation of the Saronno – Centrale connection, the regional transport councilor and the League should reassure the citizens of Saronno with slightly clearer choices and answers, rather than belittling and criticizing our statements which are instead based on what is reported in black and white both in regional resolution 7032 of 2022 and in the preliminary report on the definitive project for the quadrupling of the Rho-Parabiago line of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport” thus regional councilors of the Democratic Party Samuele Astuti and Gigi Ponti comment on the statements of the councilor Franco Lucente and members of the Lega di Saronno reported by the press, regarding the hypothesis of eliminating the connection between Saronno and Milano Centrale, by passing the Malpensa Express directed to Milano Centrale from Gallarate.

«A semi-hourly service Milan Centrale – Malpensa T1 via Gallarate – T2, replacing the current Milan Centrale-Malpensa via Saronno, to be guaranteed following the activation of the T2 Malpensa – RFI Sempione line connection whose completion of works is scheduled for 2024 – Astuti and Ponti report the text of the resolution verbatim, also underlining that – the new section replacing the current one and which would lead to the exclusion of Saronno will take place after the end of the works which is expected in 2024 and not, as they claim, in 2028.”

Finally, Astuti and Ponti specify that «the postponement of our motion to the Commission for a more rigorous study on the topic was agreed with the president of the Transport and Infrastructure commission, a member of the centre-right majority».
