Relations are growing in view of Milano Cortina 2026. Councilor Valentina Giro is away
Rho – After the decision to build the ice rink for the speed skating and hockey at Rho Fierathe city officially entered the Winter Olympic Games Milan Cortina 2026.
The April 18, 2023 the Board of Directors of Milan Cortina Foundation 2026 in fact it approved the modification of Masterplan with the change in the competition venue for the discipline of Speed Skating. The Milanese proposal, entirely financed by private capital, will offer the advantage of territorial continuity with the other competition sites in the world of ice – with the exception of curling. The facility will exist only for the duration of the competitions: a sustainable and innovative formula, which will allow Italy to be an example for the next editions of the Games.
The municipal administration is preparing for this unexpected and welcome international event. The first meetings with the Olympic Committee and the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation have begun. Furthermore, thanks to the Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a country where they excel in the discipline of speed skating, Rho welcomed a delegation made up of the consul general Mascha Baakthe mayor of Heerenveen Avine Fokkens – Kelder together with some councilors and Minne Dolstra the director of the Thialf stadium, one of the most beautiful and fastest speed skating facilities in the world. From 25 to 27 February the visit to the Netherlands was reciprocated by the Councilor for Culture, Sustainable Development and the Environment Valentina Giro representing the Administration.
In addition to going to the Thialf Stadium during the Dutch national championships together with the coaches of Fiera Milano Foundation and to the mayor of Basalga di Pinè Alessandro Santuariit was an opportunity for a discussion on multiple topics with the Administration of Heerenveen and the Province of Friesland where the Italian Ambassador met Giorgio Novello and the Royal Commissioner Arno Brok, and to visit some excellent local businesses such as the Royal A Ware food company, the Wetsus European center for sustainable water technology, the NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden and the University of Groningen. All in the full European spirit to work together and learn from each other by sharing their experiences and knowledge.
