CARPI- It will start on April 20th, at 8, Aurora of a better world: the program of initiatives promoted by the Fossoli Foundation on the occasion of Liberation Day. Simone Maretti, the Città di Carpi Band and the Savani Choir will welcome the participants at Campo di Fossoli for an awakening with words and music which will start the day Thursday 25 April.

From 10.00 to 19.00the Camp will be celebrating with the 16 flags for peace created by the FX Collective together with the kids from the Hip Hop Educational Center of Carpi, the result of the project Walls against oblivion.

In the eastern area of ​​the renovated barrack, the documentaries ‘A Fossoli. Lives that (are not) ours’ and ‘Walls against oblivion’. The western area of ​​the barrack will host Inhumanity – contemporary internmentsan exhibition curated by PacificAzioni, the Peace Committee established in Carpi, which intends to bring attention to the current situation of aberrant realities in which human beings are victims of persecution, torture, deprivation of freedom and denial of the most elementary and inalienable rights due to ethnic, religious or opinion differences.

Finally, from 12.00 to 16.00, the Coop. social SCAI will hold activities and workshops for children entitled Too much fear, too little trust.

At 12.00, 14.00, 15.00 and 16.00 it will be possible to carry out free guided tours while the possibility of taking routes with the ‘Il Campo di Fossoli’ App is always active.

The other places of the Fossoli Foundation can also be visited during the day: the Monumento al Deportato Museum, the former Synagogue and the Sala dei Cervi, which hosts the exhibition Memory carethey will be open from 10.00 to 14.00.

But it doesn’t end here: before and after Liberation Day, there are many events proposed by the Foundation, in what it has defined as the ‘long 25 April’ programme.

Saturday 20 Aprilat 3.00 pmcitizens will be able to participate, starting from the Municipality of Carpi, in theitinerary in the historic center of the city on the sites of the Second World Warin the footsteps of the project Traces of history, path of memorycreated in collaboration with ANPI Carpi.

On the same day, at 9.00 pm, the show will be staged at the Monumento al Deportato Museum Prison diary. A story between music and wordscurated by ‘Associazione primaCorda’, with the viola of Andrea Maini and the voice of Barbara Grande.

Saturday 4 Mayat 5.00 pmin the Courtyard of the Steles of the Deported Museum the Rememchild project return, curated by the Teatro dell’Argine, with the students of the ‘Guinizelli’ School of Bologna. Rememchild is a European project, which involved twenty-four pre-adolescents who visited Fossoli, learned about the different phases of its history, exploring six stories among those of the many children who passed through there between 1943 and 1960. These six stories became the subject of investigation and stimulus for reflection on the war, its premises and its consequences.

Thursday 9 Mayat 5.30 pm, the former Synagogue will be the scene of Works in progress. The open research of the Fossoli Foundationan opportunity to take stock of the ongoing research promoted by the Foundation which is being concluded together with historians Costantino Di Sante, Gianluca Fulvetti, Bruno Maida, Michele Marchi.
