Factoring companies and Calabrian health service bodies. A toxic relationship for regional public finances, which has dug real chasms. A bit like decisions in the pension sector, on this front the wrong choices of the past reverberate for a long time in subsequent years.

Abstract description that finds concreteness in the relationship between theAsp of Cosenza (the largest in Calabria) and the BFF Bank (the largest national factor in healthcare). A relationship that also ended up in the sights of the ministries supervising the recovery plan. In the minutes of the meeting of January 22nd, regarding the analysis of the balance sheet we read: “The Tables ask for clarifications as the transaction and the related acknowledgment by the ASP of Cosenza (DD n. 1758 of 29 /09/2017) date back to the year 2017 but the effects, or part of them, are recorded in the CE 2022”. And so far nothing much if it were not for the continuation: “Clarification is requested regarding the misalignment between the amount of 2.012 million euros detected in the active deficits and the amount for interest which the BFF renounced equal to 2.188 million EUR. Furthermore, clarification is requested regarding the payment of interest recognized by the transaction for 3.283 million euros, not supported by a debit note, but by a fictitious document, as can be seen from the documentation produced with protocol. 7 of 9/01/2024″.

It is not known whether the necessary clarifications have been provided since then (perhaps in the meeting with the ministries a few days ago). Speaking of ‘suspicious’ transactions, it is worth remembering how La Nuova Calabria had reported that ‘monster’, certainly in terms of size, of 39 million euros closed at the end of last year (READ HERE). A deed also stipulated with BFF Bank and which certainly did not shine with transparency despite falling within the scope of the circularization procedure.
