Bosch plant in Bari, heavy job cuts but no closure

BARI – The Bosch factory in Bari, despite being subject to a heavy reduction in staff as foreseen in the 2023 agreement (which provides for 700 exits within 5 years out of a total of 1,700 collaborators), will not be closed but will be included in the redistribution plan global activities. This was confirmed by Stefan Grosch, head of human resources of the German Group, during the conference on the 2023 financial results.

“Italy remains key to our business,” Grosch emphasized, adding that some competence centers for the power tool and hydraulic technology sectors are located in Italy. These sites include Brembate (Bg) and Tavagnacco (Ud) for Powertools, and Nonantola (Mo) for Rexroth.

Like many other industrial entities in Europe, the historic Bari plant will also be involved in the review of the employment situation as part of a strategy aimed at further reducing costs and adapting structures to maintain competitiveness during a period of transformation in the sectors.

“We will implement the necessary measures consistently, but carefully,” explained Markus Forschner, CFO of the Bosch Group, during the event. “All staff adjustments will take place without layoffs and only after consultation with the social partners. Cost reduction will contribute to profitability and ensure economic sustainability.”
