In Turin art is “at home”… in the true sense of the word

With “Aprile – Festival of houses for art”, over the next weekend 11 private houses in Turin will open their doors to welcome art and culture

From Friday 19th to Sunday 21st April

A weekend, 11 private houses with open doors (from Vanchiglia to Parella) to host more than 60 absolutely free cultural events, with guests aged 18 to 84, coming from Berlin to Reggio Calabria. Some for the first time in Italy. The result is called “April – Festival of houses for art” (Attention! With the “TO” initial strictly accented, in a thin calembour played on the name of the current month), independent and self-financed project – conceived and created by artists, curators and enthusiasts with the aim of supporting and promoting the work of operators – which, after the success of last year’s pilot edition, returns this year to propose itself by opening some Turin apartments to art and the public.

“Live painting and music in the living room, theatrical or visual arts performances in the bathroom and almost everywhere, even – say the organizers – poems on the intercom!”. Almost unbelievable! Objective, that of “testing alternative, more intimate and informal spaces capable of making art and culture accessible to the widest possible audience”, sometimes a little fearful in dealing with the “sacredness” of museums, theaters and art galleries. And at the same time “allow emerging artists to have a more direct relationship with the end user”. Over one hundred people who, even outside national borders, responded to the “call” of this first edition of the Festival. In total they will be more of sixty the free events to participate in over the weekend Saturday 20 And Sunday 21 April, from 4pm to 9pm. Alongside sculptures, installations, paintings and photographs, each house also presents performative events “site-specific”: microtheatre, talkconcerts, performance. There are also many unpublished artistic projects and some presented for the first time in Italy. Starting with live show of the German trio “Agamemnon, Jan Luxcus and Littlewood”22 year olds arriving from Berlin, who inaugurates the festival in “House Museum in the Rosato area”, Friday 19 April, at 6.30pmin via Exilles, 84. Among the visual artists he will be Sacha Philipbased in Paris, to present his first solo show, in Turin and Italy, in the spaces of “Apartment Gallery”in Corso San Maurizio, 5 bis.

Among the artists involved, still worth mentioning, Giuliano Brancale And Jacopo della Rocca who will continue the collaboration born in the last edition, with “Photons”unpublished painting project and “videomapping” on display in “Moringa House” (Borgo Dora, 22).
