The Collaboration Agreement between the Lombardy Region and the Union of Municipalities of the Ancient Villages of Valle Camonica has been signed, which allows us to start the implementation of the local development strategy ‘Camune Dolomites Park Strategy’. In the face of a total cost of 3,253,085 euros, regional funding is equal to 2,669,361 euros.

The proposed Strategy, which has as its leader the Union of Ancient Villages of Valle Camonica, was signed by a partnership made up of the Municipalities of Angolo Terme, Borno, Cerveno, Losine, Lozio, Malegno, Ossimo, Piancogno and Ono San Pietro.

Objective of the Strategy – explains the Lombardy Region councilor for Local Authorities, Mountains, Energy Resources and Use of Water Resources – is the protection, valorisation and recovery of the environmental and landscape heritage, paying particular attention to cultural and naturalistic emergencies as well as the social use of the territory“.

NINE INTERVENTIONS

The Strategy is divided into nine interventions and includes the safety of municipal road and agro-forestry-pastoral roads, the redevelopment and modernization of public buildings to be used for hospitality and cultural purposes, the strengthening of the system of tourist and cycle-pedestrian routes , the expansion and redevelopment of areas equipped for tourist parking.

The Lombardy Region, through the resources allocated for the pre-Alpine areas, intends to support sustainable local development processes. “Thanks to the regional contribution – concludes the councilor for local authorities and the mountains – redevelopment interventions on existing public assets will be carried out to enhance the offer of services for citizens and tourists. The valorisation of local resources is essential to combat the depopulation of mountain areas, both to adapt services to the needs of local communities and to increase the tourist attractiveness of the area“.
