«Differentiated autonomy? Scam law that condemns Calabria” (VIDEO)

“From today’s debate on differentiated autonomy in the Regional Council, contradictions emerged, all internal to a majority in which many people experience the approval process of the Calderoli bill with uneasiness”.

This was said by regional councilor Antonio Lo Schiavo, president of the Mixed Group – Freely Progressives, speaking today in the Regional Council during the debate on differentiated regional autonomy.

“Starting with President Occhiuto himself who has made an effort, in recent months, to take a third position between those who, like the allies of the party of which he is deputy national coordinator, are absolutely in favor and those who are clearly against it. But a third position is difficult to sustain in this case: differentiated autonomy is harmful, it is a fraudulent law, it is a game fixed from the start from which nothing good can come from the territories that have been left behind in this country. And many have now understood this even in the center-right. Here there is only one position to support: that of clear opposition to a plan that will crystallize the inequalities between the rich and the most disadvantaged regions of the country. It is obvious – he added – that the country’s institutional system and the citizens’ rights are at stake. Foreign trade, taxation on productive activities, different school systems: these are just some of the 33 functions that we think can be assigned to the Regions and financed with the tax revenues that each of them produces. Even more serious, however, is thinking of undermining the foundations of the principle that this is no longer a nation of solidarity but rather a country in which everyone uses the tax revenues they produce. Breaking national unity, in a phase in which national states are threatened by the capitalism of big companies, is absolutely dangerous and makes the unitary state even weaker. When there are serious emergencies, as happened with the pandemic, the State is stronger if it is united, compact and supportive. I therefore asked President Occhiuto to fly high, to regardless of the direction of the national parties and to defend the interests of the citizens of our region. Interests that go in only one direction: that of saying “No” to the secession of rich regions; to say “No” to a reform that will lead to 20 school systems, 20 health systems and a system in which the poorest regions, like ours, will not be able to compete and will succumb”.
