TARANTO – A 46-year-old from the province of Taranto accused of sexual abuse of a minor was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Instead, it will be a trial to establish the responsibilities of a priest, responsible for the center where the harassment allegedly took place, who according to the public prosecutor Vittoria Petronella, despite being aware of what happened, hid behind confessional secrecy.
It was judge Fulvia Misserini, at the end of yesterday’s hearing, who issued the verdict against the man and ordered the priest to be sent to trial. In his sentence, Judge Misserini inflicted a lower sentence than the 9 years requested by the prosecution, but also established the perpetual ban on the accused from all activities in contact with minors.
